Craps FAQ
What is the best bet to make in
craps?
The best bets in craps are the bets
with the lowest house advantage, which are the Pass Line,
Don’t Pass Line, Come, or Don’t Come. You should
take maximum odds on these bets to minimize the house edge.
See our Craps Strategy section for more details on optimal play.
Why do the majority of players
in a casino bet on the Pass Line instead the Don’t Pass
Line?
Even though you’re always betting
against the house, betting the Don’t Pass line is betting
against the roller (you’re betting that a 7 will be
thrown before the Point). Betting against the roller is offensive
to many players and can decrease the enjoyment as you would
win only when the roller loses.
Can I take my bets back once I’ve
placed them on the table?
Any bet can be taken off the table
at any time except the Pass Line bet. Once the dice are thrown
once, the Pass Line bet is there until you win or lose it.
Can I play craps for free to practice?
Yes, but typically not at a large
traditional casino. The best place to learn the game is online,
or from casino gaming software. While online, visit a casino
site. You may be asked to download free software, though many
casinos have “Shockwave” games that will play
directly within a browser window. From there, you can practice
and at any time, you can create an account and play for money.
How do I know that the dice in
craps are not fixed?
Most online casinos are audited by
accounting firms who verify that the random number software
are in fact producing random outcomes for cards and dice and
also verify that claimed payouts are correct. Also, most online
casinos use third parties to run simulations of all games
in order to verify the randomness of the outcomes. The casinos
will usually display their accreditations on their website
to give players more comfort in their credibility. |
